Rajasthan Govt Vehicle Scrapping Policy — 50% Rebate & Up to ?1 Lakh Registration Discount
The Bhajanlal-led Rajasthan government has approved the Vehicle Scrapping Policy to remove 15-year-old and polluting vehicles from the roads. Vehicle owners who scrap their old vehicles will receive a certificate providing a 50% rebate and up to ?1 lakh discount on new vehicle registration, with incentives for registered scrapping facilities in Rajasthan.
The Rajasthan government has approved the Rajasthan Vehicle Scrapping Policy to phase out vehicles that are 15 years or older, as well as polluting and unfit vehicles. The policy was cleared in the Bhajanlal-led cabinet meeting as part of the state’s environmental and transport reform initiatives.
Under this policy, vehicle owners who scrap their old vehicles at an authorised scrapping facility will receive a Certificate of Deposit and a Vehicle Scrapping Certificate. These certificates will allow owners to claim a 50% rebate on motor vehicle tax and a discount of up to ?1,00,000 on the registration of a new vehicle. The objective is to encourage citizens to replace old, high-emission vehicles with newer and cleaner alternatives.
Registered Vehicle Scrapping Facilities (RVSFs) will be established across the state, and the scrapping process will be fully integrated with the VAHAN portal to ensure transparency and prevent reuse of scrapped vehicles. The state government is also providing incentives and concessions to scrapping units to promote investment, recycling infrastructure, and employment generation.
The policy is expected to significantly reduce vehicular pollution, improve road safety, support responsible recycling practices, and strengthen the circular economy through reuse of metal and industrial components.
